Depraved indifference

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Hurricane Ian has done significant damage to Florida. This hurricane was one of the worst the state has ever seen. And Florida Republicans just voted against FEMA funding. I will repeat that. Florida Republicans voted AGAINST FEMA Hurricane funding.

I don’t want to hear any excuses. I don’t want to listen to any Republican excuses. These Republicans are psychos. They possess hearts of darkness. Rick Scott voted no. Marco Rubio DID NOT EVEN SHOW UP FOR THE VOTE.

According to the Tallahassee Democrat, all 16 of the GOP members of Florida’s congressional team voted against it. The Democratic party chair of Florida, Manny Diaz, called this “callous indifference.”

How COULD they? All one has to do is turn on the television or listen to survivor stories to see and hear that this is a human tragedy. And, of course, Republicans are playing games. There is no end to their insanity.

The story Republicans are telling us is that the bill contained “other things” the GOP disagreed with. One of them is a great deal of aid to Ukraine. Well — that’s a good reason to vote against it. (sarcasm.)

Now Florida will get the relief, and the Republicans must know that. The Democrats voted for it. And they(The GOP) will likely try to take credit for it too. It appears the GOP has abdicated responsibility over basic things like funding disaster relief. This is depraved indifference. And this is why we must vote them out.
