Joe Biden just racked up another big victory

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Over the course of the Biden administration, we’ve consistently seen a considerable difference in the governing style of a Democratic administration versus the Republican one that was in power just two short years ago. While the former guy and his people put repeal of the Affordable Care Act at the top of their lists, it was never successfully carried out, even if Donald Trump was successful at kicking people off the plan while trying to advance one that was much worse for the vast majority of people in America.

Four years after a Republican-led Congress failed to kill Obamacare and replace it with a better alternative, the White House is celebrating yet another drop in Medicare premiums for 2023.

The drop in premiums is due to a law in the recently signed Inflation Reduction Act that requires the federal government to negotiate prices with drug companies and creates a $2,000 cap on out of pocket costs by the year 2025 – but it’s already making a considerable difference for some people. This is as critical a time as ever for the president to highlight what the act does for Medicare costs – something often overlooked by much of the news media as policy talk rarely generates ratings – as the GOP has been rather open about their desire to sunset all legislation every five years or so.

While celebrating, President Biden made this clear – that just about every Republican candidate running for federal office is at least talking about some way of gutting Social Security and Medicare which will make all of our lives worse – and this is exactly the message that all voters on the fence need to hear about by November 8.
