Ted Cruz just got his ass handed to him
Rafael (Ted) Cruz was booed and heckled by his own audience while speaking about how to prevent school shootings. The setting was the Tribune festival in Austin, Texas. On Saturday, Rafael attended and spoke to people about how to keep our children safe.
And like everything he attempts, Rafael was a spectacular failure. Rafael argued earnestly that our schools need to be protected — without gun control. You read that right. Rafael said it wouldn’t be fair to have gun control laws because they do not work anyway and would violate the rights of law-abiding people. As you might expect, these words did not go over well.
And in perhaps the stupidest comment from any Republican in recent years, sans anything Trump has said, Rafael said these words. Speaking about mass shootings, Rafael said, “If the objective is to stop these crimes, gun control is singularly ineffective.” Oh, Texas, Texas — I do feel for you.
Rafael then spoke about HIS way of stopping these shootings, including “targeting the bad guys.” I have no idea what that’s supposed to mean. Perhaps he got that line from Greg Abbott, who pledged to stop every rapist. None of these people ever say HOW they will do so.
Rafael then attempted to discuss piling massive amounts of cops into schools –only to be met with the sound. The sound of jeering — of booing — of catcalling It looks like Rafael underestimated the intelligence level of the people at this event.
And Rafael did not take kindly to being booed. You would THINK he’d be used to it by now. But no. He grew hostile. “Look, if you have a solution to stop the deranged evil murders, I’d love to hear it.”
Do you know what I’d love to hear? The sound of an airplane taking Rafael Cruz to Cancun perhaps permanently. The man is an embarrassment to the office of Senator.
But wait! There’s more. Becoming antsier by the minute, Cruz said snidely to the audience that they were free to “sing Kumbaya” with the shooters. Really. He said this. More boos. “18-year-old boys don’t need an AR-15,” someone shouted, causing a wave of applause, as Raphael just stood there, alone, ignored, and unrepentant.
