The criminal charge that’s most likely to put Donald Trump behind bars
There are so many investigations into Donald John Trump that, at this point, nobody could be blamed if they’ve lost count of all of them. The man breaks laws regularly and seems to have no concept of what’s it’s like to live within the rule of law. But one particular investigation is causing some whispers. And that is the Department of Justice’s assertion that Trump was trying to “obstruct justice.”
And many are saying — of all the investigations — that one has the best chance of sticking. It’s always the cover-up, isn’t it? Did the man learn nothing from Watergate? That question is rhetorical. Trump does not have it in him to learn anything. But it’s true what they say — often, the cover-up is worse than the crime.
Trump not only was found to have classified documents, but he obstructed. He is said to have moved the documents around from room to room. Some were on his desk. He lied and said all the documents had been returned when that clearly was not true. All that leads to these three words resplendent golden words: Obstruction of Justice.
Trump had intent. He knew what he was doing. And he took steps to obstruct. That is something the Department of Justice will never let go. And Washington Press says: “After five years of watching the rule of law go unenforced and unheeded, obstruction of justice charges appear to be the clearest path to justice for Americans enraged by Trump’s impunity from the consequences of his actions.”
