Lindsey Graham’s walk of shame
Can we talk about South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham and his sad, sad walk of shame? Graham is one of these people who I do not get angry at much. The reason for that is because Graham is deeply embarrassing to listen to. That’s what he inspires in me — embarrassment, not anger.
This is a guy who, at one time, actually commanded respect. Now he just walks quietly in his own shame, a punchline, soul firmly grasped by the traitor Donald Trump. It is a bitter legacy to leave. And Lindsey is one of those few people who may actually like Trump. I know many speculate that Trump “has something” on Graham. I admit it’s a possibility, but I don’t think that’s it.
In Graham’s unwavering devotion to Trump, we see a man wanting and needing relevance. By clinging to Trump, Graham gets to be talked about. It’s a sad state of affairs, but for Graham, that might be all he really wants.
Now let’s talk about Graham’s latest snafu. On Newsmax, Graham’s latest Trump excuse was that Donald is far too old for prison. Is there a law I am unaware of where it is illegal to prosecute anybody over 60 – or 70? If so, I’ve never heard of it.
I am, of course, being facetious. There is no law like that. But Graham argued Trump’s age should be a consideration. There seems to be no end to his defense of the lord of the lies. After a brief moment — right after the January 6 terrorist attack — it seemed Graham might make a break for it.
He stood on the floor of the Capitol and said he was off the Trump train. But alas, old habits do prove quite hard to break. For Graham, it seems he just cannot quit Donald Trump. He is doing himself — and the public a grave disservice.
