Mitch McConnell just gave away the game

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Something incredible happened. Mitch McConnell told the truth. This is a big deal. Moscow Mitch was in Kentucky when he was asked about the midterms and what his thoughts were on where we are headed. And he said the Senate might not flip.

“I think there’s probably a greater likelihood the House flips than the Senate. Senate races are just different; they’re statewide, candidate quality has a lot to do with the outcome.”

This is all true, and thank you, Moscow Mitch, for telling the truth about something at long last. Now what he is doing is likely managing expectations. That way, if they win (which they won’t), he can boast a bit. But make no mistake, Mitch is concerned. And candidate quality DOES matter. And the GOP’s candidate quality sucks.

But we have to make sure we DO win, and that means taking nothing for granted. And we need to win the House as well. Just imagine the shock on Kevin McCarthy’s face when the House doesn’t flip. Make sure you have popcorn, and it’s got a lot of butter because this WILL happen — if we put in the work.

But we have to remember THEY ARE putting in work as well. Well — at least ins between ripping away women’s rights and swearing fidelity to Donald Trump, they are. The GOP has many people on the ground, door-knocking. They are pretty determined, although Moscow Mitch seems to have lost his Mojo just a bit. So let’s work HARDER than them. Let’s prove Moscow Mitch correct and win the House AND the Senate.
