Turns out there are enough skeletons in Herschel Walker’s closet to form an army
There are a few things one should know when running for political office. And one of those things is: beware of the skeletons — the skeletons in one’s closet. Everybody has a past. Whether that past turns into a political scandal has to do with degrees. What degree of awful is one’s particular skeleton, and just how bad will it make you look?
Because skeletons in the dusty closet have been known to destroy campaigns. Sometimes they can completely derail a political career. And for one 2022 Senatorial candidate, it isn’t a question of a closet skeleton — it’s the plural version — skeletons.
Herschel Walker is his name, and skeletons are his game. He’s a big player in the skeleton game as every week, there seems to be something that emerges from the man’s past that is unsavory.
This week is no different in that regard. “He was gonna blow my brains out.” Those are the stunning words from Walker’s own ex-wife.
In a new campaign ad made by the Republican Accountability Project, Walker’s ex-wife, Cindy DeAngelis Grossman, talks to voters about Walker’s threats. “Do you think you know Herschel Walker,” a narrator asks. “Well, think again.”
Grossman then gets into detail about what she endured with Walker. “His eyes would become very evil. The guns and the knives. I got into a few choking things with him,” she says “The first time, he held a gun to my temple and said he was gonna blow my brains out.”
Walker has addressed the allegations, insisting he’s “better” these days than “99% of the people in America.”
“Just like I broke my leg, I put the cast on. It healed.”
Interesting analogy. The problem with this analogy, though, is one can’t compare a broken leg with the torment of being emotionally and physically tortured. Walker should be disqualified from running if such things were possible. And yet they are. The voters have the chance to disqualify Walker. And they should do it.
Because whether or not Walker is “healed” , if he did the things he is accused of, he has no justification for remaining in the race. Our elected representatives need to be people who help — not hurt. Walker’s skeletons are making weekly appearances, and we must fight for Senator Warnock and send Walker – and his skeletons — back home.
