Only one way out of this now
After a back and forth vote tally that looked for awhile like it was going to go the other way, it turns out Arizona Republicans have narrowly chosen deranged right wing pro-Trump conspiracy theorist Kari Lake as their nominee for Governor. It is what it is. Frankly, the second place Republican ended up becoming nearly as much of a deranged lunatic, in a belated attempt at catching Lake in the polls.
At this point we have two choices. We can sit around lamenting about how awful it is that the Republicans have picked such a hideous nominee, and idly fretting about how bad it’ll be if she wins – but this will accomplish NOTHING.
The other choice – the only real one – is for us all to strongly rally behind the fantastic Democratic nominee for Governor of Arizona, Katie Hobbs, so that Kari Lake loses the general election. The good news is that Hobbs is currently ahead of Lake in every poll. But we can’t rest on polls alone, and we know Arizona is a swing state, where statewide races are likely to end up being close.

By picking a deranged nominee who does not appeal to mainstream voters, the Republicans have foolishly handed us an opportunity to finally elect a Democratic Governor of Arizona – which would greatly improve the lives and rights of the people of Arizona. Now it’s our job to seize the opportunity and put in the work to win.
