This just keeps getting more embarrassing for Josh Hawley
Republicans ask Democrats to ‘define a woman,” but apparently, at least one Republican has no problem defining a man. That someone is Josh Hawley. The marathon sprinter is getting ridiculed yet again. This is because his book is due out soon — and it’s the title that is bringing the guffaws.
Hawley appears to think the definition of a man is … Hawley. That might be why he titled his new book “Manhood: The Masculine Virtues Americans need.” No, this isn’t a joke. It’s, unfortunately, way too real. Hawley giving a book this title is kind of like Putin writing a book called “Peace to the planet” or Clarence Thomas writing a book called “How to let go of grudges.” It just shouldn’t be.
Hawley has attempted to blame women for all the men of the world’s problems. For example, feast your eyes on this nugget: According to Hawley, feminism can drive men into “pornography and video games.” Are you speaking from experience, Josh?
In the meantime, Hawley’s book title is eliciting chuckles from human beings everywhere. In Tennessee, they chuckle. In Maine, they laugh. In France, they giggle, which is the case in Spain, Finland, and Canada. I have seen laughing emojis from all these places in reference to Hawley’s “book.”
I do not pretend to have all the answers to what makes a man. But I do know this. Real men can show humility. Real men — real PEOPLE — can express their feelings and admit when they’re wrong. Good and conscientious people do not fist pump insurrectionists and then run for their lives from the same people they helped rev up.
Hawley wouldn’t know a real man if he tripped over one. Come to think about it — he very nearly did, in the sprint seen round the world. If he wants to deny reality by pretending he knows ANYTHING about humility or manhood, he can, but I highly doubt many will buy his book, which seems no more than a love letter to himself.
