The collapse of the three stooges

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The Republicans are running three celebrity con artists in the midterms – Mehmet Oz, JD Vance, and Herschel Walker – and all three are doing poorly in the polls and fundraising. These Trump clones played well in the Republican primary, but predictably aren’t built for the general election.

Not that you can count any of them out yet. It’s just too early. The swing state nature of the races they’re running in means they’ll each get 40-something percent of the vote automatically. You have to keep supporting Fetterman, Ryan, and Warnock through November, because the nature of these three races means there’s always a chance they’ll end up being very close, no matter what a joke the Republican candidates are.

But if the Republican primaries are going to continue being won by celebrity dumbass Trump clones like this, then the Republicans are handing the Democrats a gift by going with these kinds of highly vulnerable nominees.

This is also something to keep in mind going forward. Trump was an extremely unpopular general candidate both times (lost by a combined 10 million votes). He’d do even more poorly in the 2024 general election, as would any Republican nominee who runs as a Trump clone.

But really, any focus on 2024 right now is foolish. This is all about 2022, which is in just three months. Oz, Vance, and Walker are almost trying to lose at this point. But you can’t risk letting them win by accident. Now is the time to ramp UP your midterm activism. Yes, you. Time to get to work.
