Donald Trump isn’t helping his cause

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Just how little is a Donald Trump endorsement worth in 2022? Before Trump endorsed Mehmet Oz in the Republican Senate primary race in Pennsylvania, Oz had a two point lead. The endorsement didn’t give Oz any bump at all, and in the end Oz won the primary race by less than a two point margin. Now Oz is behind Democratic candidate John Fetterman in every general election poll, by varying margins, even as Oz commits one gaffe after another.

If Trump had any ability to help boost his handpicked candidate Oz, now would be the time for Trump to do it, before Oz falls entirely off a cliff. Instead, Trump says he endorsed Oz because Oz said positive things about Trump’s health.

No really, Trump said this. If Trump wants his endorsements to have any degree of relevance, he’ll have to find a way to help Mehmet Oz turn things around. Instead Trump is saying stupid things like admitting that he only endorsed Oz due to personal flattery, and not suitability. Trump isn’t helping his cause at all.
