President Biden comes through

Many people — or as like to refer to them “negative Nellies” said he would not do it but he did. President Joe Biden has signed an executive order on abortion rights. Thanks, President Biden.

Here is some of what is in this order:

While Biden cannot reverse the Roe ruling of the extreme Court, this executive order will undoubtedly help stem the tide a bit.

Contraception access will be expanded through HHS.

The order will seek to protect a woman’s privacy.

Advanced safety mechanisms for Abortion clinics.

Safeguarding sensitive information due to privacy concerns and protecting the data under HIPAA.

Protections for mobile abortion clinics.

The Health and Human Services department will look to expand access to abortion medication by mail.This is essential since more than 50% of abortions are through the abortion pill.

Convene more pro-choice attorneys to defend women if they are targeted for prosecution.

None of these things is a cure-all. But all of these things will help. But the biggest option we have of all? Voting. President Biden called for two additional Democratic senators. Of course, if we had that, we could codify Roe and do away with the filibuster. Thank you, President Biden.
