Dear Susan Collins…
I am writing to ask if you are concerned about the recent ruling overturning Roe. I’m sure it must deeply concern you. You do know that part of the blame can be laid at your feet, do you not?
Why do you persist in doing your naive thing? We all know you are bought and paid for. We all know you don’t give a damn about women. Trump has learned his lesson, you cried. Brett would never, you shrieked.
Surely nobody is that stupid. And if they ARE that stupid, they have no business being in the Senate in the first place. You are an embarrassment to women. You are worse than a Ted Cruz or a Josh Hawley because they make no bones about who they are.
But you pretend. You pretend to care. You pretend to be “concerned.” You wear your concern like a scarlet letter. But now the only letter you will wear is one big P. For phony.
I doubt you will run again in a few years, nor do I think you could win if you did. You burned your bridges. You’ve let too many people down. And your legacy will be one of the wrinkled brows, vacant words, and pretentious and faked concern. Your legacy is nothing, and that’s what you’ve done for women everywhere — exactly nothing.
