With the Electoral College set to officially elect the next President of the United States one week from today, Donald Trump suddenly has a real problem. It’s not just that members of Congress from both parties are now demanding answers when it comes to his various secret dealings with Russia, which helped rig the election for him. It’s that members of the Electoral College itself are demanding Trump provide those answers before their vote next week.

Ten members of the Electoral College, including one who has been assigned to vote for Donald Trump, are now publicly asking the United States government to provide them with an intelligence briefing regarding Trump’s connections to Russia and Russia’s connection to the election. But their jointly signed letter, which they’ve posted publicly, goes beyond merely asking the intelligence community to fill them in. They’re also demanding that Trump himself provide them with answers:

“The Electors will separately require from Donald Trump conclusive evidence that he and his staff and advisors did not accept Russian interference, or otherwise collaborate during the campaign, and conclusive disavowal and repudiation of such collaboration and interference going forward.”

As of yet, Donald Trump hasn’t provided any direct response to the demands of the Electoral College members. While nine of the ten Electors in question have been assigned to vote for Hillary Clinton, with just one of them assigned to vote for Donald Trump, their letter appears aimed at bringing awareness to the Trump-Russia issue, in the hope of convincing a sufficient number of Trump electors to flip their votes accordingly.
