January 6th Committee reveals it has Donald Trump nailed
Thus far the January 6th Committee public hearings have been nothing short of devastating for Donald Trump. Many of his own people have testified that he knew he legitimately lost the election, and that he directly oversaw the Eastman plot to overthrow the election results in Congress.
Now Adam Schiff has revealed that the committee also has Trump nailed for a different crime: submitting phony electors. While that scheme has long circumstantially seemed to have Trump’s fingerprints all over it, Schiff says the committee has firm evidence.
This matters for a couple reasons. For one thing, the more crimes the committee can nail Trump for, the greater the odds are that the DOJ will end up indicting him. If the Feds are going to charge someone, they prefer to a smorgasbord of charges against that person, so the odds are higher that the jury will end up convicting on at least some of the charges.
In addition, when major newspapers have reported that the DOJ has had a January 6th grand jury going against Trump world for the past five months, they’ve specifically underscored that the DOJ has been focusing on the fake elector scheme. Now the January 6th Committee says it’s nailed Trump for that scheme. This means the DOJ will soon have that evidence, if it doesn’t already. It also means that the remaining upcoming public hearings could end up being more explosive than the first three hearings have been.
