In politics — as well as in life — there are two options available to people. Fear and courage. And that’s never been more true than in politics. One can choose to dance in the evergreens of courage or get lost in the weeds of cowardice.

For Moscow Mitch McConnell he has chosen the weeds of cowardice. McConnell is expressing outrage at Democrats. The reason for this outrage, according to Mitch, is he wants a quick passage of a bill that would better protect Supreme Court Justices.

And I agree that Supreme Court Justices should be protected. I think ALL people should be protected. Therein lies the problem.

Mitch is getting ferocious backlash. Not because he wants Court Justices protected but because he said nary a word about the children — and the victims of mass shootings. And the talk is getting louder. This might be because Moscow Mitch took to the floors of the Senate the other day to lash out at Democrats for not doing more on Supreme Court security.

The backlash was almost instances, with many seemingly puzzled at why McConnell would even dare say something like this since his party is balking at passing gun safety reform.

The excuses have ranged from blaming the violence on “critters”, on abortion, doors, and not enough prayer to mental health. Everything but the real issue — guns. Democrats stand ready, willing, and able to work on gun safety. McConnell’s caucus — and Moscow Mitch himself — refuse to do so.

All Supreme Court Justices and schools could receive much more protection by the end of the week — if the GOP would come to the table on gun reform. Alas, they refuse to do so. They have chosen to walk the coward’s plank.
