Rudy Giuliani just gave away the game
When the DOJ indicted Peter Navarro for contempt of Congress on Friday, we noted that it did so in somewhat aggressive fashion and seemed to be trying to send a bit of a message. It turns out we weren’t the only ones who saw it that way. In fact Rudy Giuliani just gave something away.
Giuliani tweeted this in response: “Dragging Peter Navarro off a plane and shackling him in leg irons demonstrate that AG Garland and Director Gray are using DOJ AND FBI AS THE DEMOCRAT STATE POLICE.”
For one thing, Rudy reminded us yet again that he’s an oblivious idiot: there is no “Director Gray.” Who’s next? Colonel Mustard? Professor Plum? But aside from making up people, Rudy also told us something else here: he’s really panicked about being next.
The DOJ’s criminal probe into Giuliani which was scuttled by Bill Barr, and then later reactivated sometime after Merrick Garland took over, has been a ticking time bomb hanging over Rudy’s head for some time now. Friday’s indictment and arrest of Navarro was a reminder that while the DOJ is taking longer than most people would like, and isn’t going to indict every person on every single potential charge, it is in fact still very much in the thick of busting Trump world people – and it’s moving its way up the hierarchy.
There’s a reason Rudy Giuliani recently spent hours testifying to the January 6th Committee. As worried as he surely was about further incriminating himself while testifying, he was also worried about getting busted for contempt if he didn’t testify. Yet Rudy’s testimony certainly hasn’t made his legal troubles disappear.
The DOJ is confirmed to be targeting Rudy for having taken dirty foreign money, and that’s before his role in the attempted overthrow of the 2020 election. Giuliani is surely going to end up indicted on charges that could put him away for well beyond the end of his natural lifespan. And with other top Trump advisers now getting arrested at airports, Rudy has to worry that he’s next – and that it could come at any time. No wonder he’s hallucinating about “Director Gray” getting him.
