Ted Cruz stunned into silence

Have you ever felt like you HAD to do something? Perhaps you felt you must volunteer for a worthy cause. Or donate to a charity. Or — vote. What we’re up against is not small in nature. It is a huge monster; it’s hate itself. That is what we must defeat — hate itself.

And all of us — you and me — are trying to do just that. We’re trying because we heard the whispers. Perhaps it was the whispering wind, its breezes murmuring that this is a cause greater than any one person. Maybe you heard the whispers in sand-coated seashells or the beautiful waves of the sea.

Perhaps you don’t know how and where you heard it — you just know that you did. It was the whispering of calls to action — to activism. Others are hearing it too. The man who just confronted non-Senator Ted Cruz heard it. It happened at a restaurant. The man asked Ted a simple question. Why.

“Why did you come here to the convention?” He was speaking about the NRA convention. The man was visibly emotional. And I understand the raw emotion and pain behind that question. I think a lot of us would like to know:

Why, Ted Cruz? Not that this is a question you will hear an honest answer whispered back to you. The man was not yet finished: “19 children died!”

They did. And Rafael Cruz had no answers. And then the man spoke his truth: “That’s on your hands! Ted Cruz, that’s on your hands!”

The man said what so many of us are thinking. He was eventually escorted out of the restaurant. I respect this man. He simply asked a question – a question that millions of us would like Rafael and other members of the GOP to answer. We are still waiting for Rafael’s reply. I think that will be a long wait.
