I want to talk about Beto. Beto O’Rourke is a gift. I mean that. One way to bring about gun reform is to have leaders in place who WANT gun reform. So let’s talk about Texas. Let’s talk about gun safety. And let’s talk about Beto O’Rourke.

Beto challenged Governor Abbott during his press conference. He didn’t have to. Indeed, many would say he ran a risk of doing so. Only Beto didn’t care. He did it anyway. He was propelled by something bigger than everything. That something is courage.

The courage of Beto O’Rourke should not be forgotten — ever by any of us but especially not by the Texas voters. Courage brings out the best in everyone. It’s a fortress that surrounds the courageous person, providing cover.

Compare Beto’s courage to the cowardice of the Republican politicians who quiver with fear — not for the children but for themselves — and their bank accounts. If Texas were to elect such a man as Beto, he would move to enact sensible gun reform. He’d do this not for any other reason but the one that matters most — love.

Beto loves this country. He loves the state of Texas. And he loves our children — all of them. From the neon lights of Dallas to the San Antonio boardwalk — Beto wants to protect the children.

He wants them to grow and flourish and live long and happy lives where fear of bullets does not permeate their daily lives. And that is why Beto O’Rourke is a gift — one that must become the new Governor of Texas come November.
