Liz Cheney is right

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Liz Cheney has more balls than most of the men in her party combined. She figured out early on that Donald Trump is a threat to America, and she has never waivered from her position. According to the Hill, Cheney was honored with the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award, and she took the opportunity to remind attendees that we face “a threat we have never faced before-a former president attempting to unravel our constitutional republic.” The Trump contingent hates on Liz Cheney, but she’s very astute. They’re afraid of her and the truth she tells because they live in and survive on lies.

It is not enough that Donald Trump and his ilk are liars, but they are troublemakers. They love stirring people up and encouraging them to do the wrong things, like storming the Capitol on January 6. Now, he is encouraging people to engage in civil war Huffington Post reported. According to that piece, Trump shared a post on his platform that suggests civil war. The original poster, Lara Logan, referred to a tweet from El Salvador president Nayib Bukele about the problems we are experiencing in the U.S. He suggested that our “enemy comes from within.” Trump took that to mean “civil war” in the U.S. is imminent when he is the biggest enemy we have.

George Conway, of course, jumped all over Trump’s post, writing: “Nothing to see here. Just a former president of the United States sharing a social media post advocating or predicting civil war in the United States. No biggie.” Conway told CNN that other Republicans are “terrified” of Trump. He went on to explain that they see people who disagree with Trump as “a threat to the nation” and that they may well see violence as the answer. Adam Kinzinger re-tweeted Conway, asking if any Republicans cared to speak out. It is amazing how the men and women of the Republican party have decided that Trump’s way is the way to go. This is exactly what Liz Cheney referred in her speech.

Cheney painted a picture of the stark contract between “president” Donald Trump and past presidents who transferred power as a “sacred obligation.” Cheney said: “This sacred obligation to defend the peaceful transfer of power has been honored by every American president except one. The question for every one of us is in this time of testing, will we do our duty, will we defend our constitution, will we stand for truth, will we put duty to our oath above partisan politics?”

She pointed out the many things wrong with Donald Trump and what he did after his loss in November 2020. He lied-and continues to do so today. He not only failed to do his duty by breaking a time-honored tradition of inviting the incoming president to the White House. He held a rally that caused hundreds of violent followers to breach the Capitol doors and commit untold destruction. He is one who should never again disgrace the halls of the White House or any American institution.
