Mehmet Oz’s astoundingly creepy endgame

I want to thank Mehmet Oz, one of the Republican candidates for the Pennsylvania Senate, for shattering the roof on creepiness. Today is, as you are aware, the Pennsylvania primaries. And one of the things that means is that candidates — both Republican and Democratic have been all-a-flurry, trying to close the deal in the hours before voting got underway.

However, Mehmet Oz, in the spirit of creepiness, might have overdone things just a tad. He said something creepy — very creepy. Oz, as you know, is embroiled in a vicious primary as he battles it out, hoping the Pennsylvania Republican voters decide he’s the candidate who can get the job done.

And speaking to Sean Hannity, Oz decided to make one last appeal to voters. He perhaps shouldn’t have. Because what he said had the universal effect of grossing out just about every human this writer came in contact with: “So, when you go to bed at night, put your head on that soft pillow; you’ll know Oz will be doing exactly what you want him to do if you were there next to him.”

Let’s break this down. I do not expect intellectualism from the GOP, but I also don’t expect ANY of them to offer creepy statements like this.

The blow-back on Twitter was immediate. Some people seemed baffled. Others appeared disgusted — that includes this writer.

Almost everyone found the statement — creepy — very creepy.

Here are some of the best Twitter responses:

“Stay out of my bedroom, Oz.”

“Ewwwwwwww.”

“I’d be calling the police asking why Oz is in my bed.”

“I think it’s time for a restraining order.”

“I’m too scared to go to sleep.”

I’m heading to sleep but have to make sure Oz isn’t hiding under my bed.”

“We don’t want you in our beds, Mehmet.”

“Freak!!”

“Pa politics are too damn kinky for me.”

“I just threw up a little.”

“why? why?”

“The pillow guy is likely advising him.”

“Gag me.”

“This was the creepiest statement by anyone ever.”

“Can you say issues?”

And my personal favorite:

“My dog usually doesn’t sleep next to me, but she’s guarding against Dr. Oz coming into my bedroom tonight.”

As you can see, readers, these comments did not go over too well — likely because they’re — creepy — very creepy.
