Luxury hotels are like decadent chocolate. You may not want them all the time, but on the special occasions you DO treat yourself, three is nothing like it. And there is nothing wrong with that. Luxury hotels can make beautiful temporary hideaways. When one wants to get away from it all, they’re a great and opulent way of indulging oneself.

Only there appears to be one less luxury hotel on the horizon. This hotel has not performed well financially and, sadly, has just gone out of business. What hotel is that?

Why it’s the Trump International Hotel in Washington, of course! Yet another Trump business venture has, after a long run, had a miserable flop. The Trump international hotel has been sold to an investment group that has plans to turn the failed hotel into a Waldorf Astoria.

The Trump brand failed miserably in this case. “The sale formally ends the Trump family’s business presence in Washington,” the New York Times said. Well, that’s that! I can’t say this is much of a surprise.

And reportedly, hotel executives are talking. Whispers are that many people did not want to stay at the hotel because of the Trump name. The hotel lagged quite a bit in reservations.

Nor did many people and companies want to hold events there. And compared to other luxury hotels in the area, Trump’s hotel had under-performed. Reports are also that the hotel has been in a downward spiral since 2020. Apparently, the Trump name is poison to many. So — another day, another failure for Donald Trump.
