The beginning of the end of Chuck Todd
This is a day of good news! The numbers for the economy have come out and look better than ever! Biden’s approval ratings are climbing upward. So are the approval ratings for Democratic party.
If that isn’t enough to get the streamers and party hats out, there is more good news, and this should do it. Chuck Todd’s daily Meet the Press show has “been booted.” That’s right; the agonizingly long-winded show will no longer be airing on a daily basis.
Instead, MSNBC has switched the show over to its streaming services. It will be called “Meet the Press NOW.” But we will not have to see it. No longer will the face of Chuck Todd grace our television screens daily.
That sound you hear is the sound of fragrant roses sprouting up. It’s the sound of laughter in the air. It’s the sound of tinkling glasses of champagne being raised. Thank you, MSNBC. We’ve waited a long time for this ever since the show started airing, quite frankly.
Am I being too hard on Todd? I believe the answer to that question is no; I’m not too hard on him. Todd’s been a let-down from day one, and all the former viewers — and there are many of them — know it.
Even comedian Trevor Noah knows it and joked about it last week at the White House Correspondents dinner. Todd’s old spot will be taken over by NBC Anchor Chris Jansing.
Now the Sunday show is not reportedly affected. I say it’s only a matter of time. Todd’s got scant viewership, and MSNBC is finally paying attention.
So let’s rejoice. After all, we’ve been waiting for this for a very long time. No more Todd to wring his hands daily and announce “Democrats in disarray” even though they aren’t. It is a beautiful way to end the week.
