Eric Swalwell slam dunks Kevin McCarthy

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Amid the feeding frenzy over how ugly the Kevin McCarthy tapes are going to get, which one of his supposed allies recorded and leaked them, and what the fallout for McCarthy will be, a major point is being largely overlooked: McCarthy doesn’t say anything objectively scandalous on any of these tapes. Instead, McCarthy is in trouble because he’s been caught speaking the difficult truth about prominent members of his own party.

Of course shortly after these circa-January 2021 recordings were made, McCarthy went right back to being the pathetic butt kisser we’ve all long known and hated.

It’s so rare for any Republican to tell the truth these days, even Kevin McCarthy’s brief foray into privately admitting the truth was notable. As Eric Swalwell put it while ripping McCarthy to pieces, “America would be much better off if Kevin McCarthy’s tryst with the truth lasted longer than a week.”
