Greg Abbott forced to cave
Greg Abbott is a monster. To borrow a quote from writer Ray Bradbury, “Something wicked this way comes.” That something wicked is Texas Governor Greg Abbott. Abbott has played politics with America’s goods and services. He has breached the trust between himself and his constituents. He must be defeated in the midterms.
Because of Abbott’s negligent and cruel political stunt, which consisted of him ordering trucks coming in from Mexico be inspected, he has caused chaos and fury. And he’s also left behind a fortune in spoiled, rotting food. CNN reported that there were huge fruit and vegetable losses because of Abbott’s antics.
These antics have led to a jaw-dropping loss of $240 million in lost fruit and vegetables. Millions and millions of fresh and delicious food gone. And all because of one man’s evil deeds, perhaps caused in part because of what could be a massive inferiority complex on his end.
And Dante L. Galeazzi, President and CEO of the Texas international produce association, reportedly explained to CNN that the food was being used “as bargaining chips.”
As you likely know, traffic was held up; there were logjams everywhere while food rotted away. Now Abbott has stopped these inspections, which must be a relief to millions.
But I do not believe he did this out of the goodness of his heart. There was increasing fury aimed at him and many complaints. It seemed just about everybody was infuriated at Abbott. His political stunt backfired.
Abbott, who succeeds at little, did succeed in one thing with this pathetic display of incompetence. What did he succeed at? He showed the state of Texas once again that he does not give a damn about them or the Texas economy. Just say no to Greg Abbott.
