Mark Meadows voter fraud scandal gets uglier for him

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Time and again, Republicans like to insist that their policies are actually popular and that their main reason for losing when they lose is that millions of people are somehow voting illegally. This is really just a way to undermine the democratic process whether they win or not – so people who are already in their camp become suspicious of the people voting who are least likely to vote Republican and gives them an excuse to stick to the same platform.

Like most other things they accuse their opponents of, the very few instances of people actually voting illegally are almost exclusively right-wingers who tried to cast their vote twice.

So far, none of the wingnuts who have been caught actually voting illegally have been particularly high profile – but on Tuesday that changed, when former Rep. Mark Meadows, well-known for the part he played in the Jan 6 insurrection as Donald Trump’s chief of staff, was kicked off voter rolls in North Carolina, his home state. This isn’t really something you want to have happen to you in the same state where you’re currently being investigated for election fraud. It was found that he listed his address as a location that turned out to be an Airbnb, which he never owned nor lived at.

There are a number of instances when people accidentally list the wrong address, but this clearly isn’t one – it’s also put Meadows between two unpleasant places to be, since he’s being investigated for voter fraud at the state level and for lying to Congress.
