Lauren Boebert has a whole new problem back home
In response to Rep. Lauren Boebert’s juvenile outbursts at President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address last week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that Boebert and other hecklers “should just shut up.” Even Sen. Lindsay Graham muttered “Oh, shut up!” as Boebert tried to interrupt Biden, and Sen. Mitt Romney later called Boebert’s heckling “repulsive and repugnant.”
It turns out Boebert’s increasingly loutish behavior is attracting more than just bipartisan condemnation. Boebert’s over-the-top antics are causing her to hemorrhage a sizeable amount of respect and support from constituents in her own Congressional district. A new report from The Independent details the growing political harm Boebert has been inflicting on herself recently.
Having been elected to the House of Representatives, Boebert’s job is to pursue policies and enact laws that she believes would be in the best interest of her constituents. However, many of these constituents believe that Boebert is not fulfilling her role as a true Representative of their district. It has reached a point where many voters Boebert needs to win reelection are looking elsewhere.
Voters are getting particularly turned off by the derelict way in which Boebert has been approaching her job. Shortly after the State of the Union, Kathy Hall, a Republican, took to the streets of Grand Junction to petition support for a challenger. Along with many others, Hall laments the fact that Boebert’s “game is being controversial.” As Hall put it, Boebert’s behavior “really upsets me” because she “creates a bad image of Western Colorado people.”
Boebert’s unflattering misrepresentation of her own people is causing reputational harm as others understandably wonder if the people who are proud to call Boebert’s district their home are like her. According to Hall, even many of her “strong conservative” friends around the country are getting the impression that “we’re a bunch of wackos over here, and we’re not.” On the contrary, as Hall describes it, Boebert’s constituents have “worked hard to have a strong reputation of a good place to do business” and “raise your family.”
Most of the people whom The Independent interviewed believe that the favorable opinion of Boebert among her constituency stands at around 50-50. Military veterans appear to be the most sharply critical, calling Boebert everything from “not a very smart person” to “lower than snakeshit.” Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District’s Republican primary is June 28, and the general election is November 8. If Misrepresentative Boebert keeps humiliating herself, then one of these dates might very well mark the rightful end of her disgraceful political career.
