Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has a whole new debacle on her hands
After giving an embarrassing response to the President’s State of the Union Address, Iowa Governor Kim “CovidKim” Reynolds felt the need to top her post-SOTU antics by signing the transgender athlete ban into law that her GQP buddies in the Iowa legislature sent her. The law requires schools to designate sports as male, female, or co-ed and requires students to participate in sports based on what their birth certificate says their sex is.
Of course, CovidKim made a big event out of the signing and spent time spouting off about how having transgender athletes compete in women’s sports was so unfair, while ignoring the harm that this ban will do, and writing discrimination into Iowa law.
The past few years have read largely like a GQP wish list for everything from sabotaging the response to the pandemic, to taking control away from local government organizations that don’t toe the GQP line, to limiting the right of people to vote, and now on to discriminating against transgender athletes.
I hate what CovidKim and the state GQP have done to Iowa. Iowa used to be a good place to live and raise a family but under the scorched and polluted Earth policy Iowa’s Branch Trumpvidian government has followed lately it’s toxic to live in the state. I hope that come November enough Iowans will band together to show CovidKim and the Iowa GQP the road.
