This just backfired on Fox News
“Republicans are defending coup plotters. They’re curbing voting rights at precisely the moment when democracy needs champions. We should be standing together against autocracies like Russia and China. January 6th last year was a gift to them because they know something that we need to remember. America is only as strong as our unity and democracy.”
The rhetoric is considerably more charged than what you’d expect at a Democratic convention – particularly one at the state level, but these words were delivered by none other than former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton – telling the unvarnished truth as one of the event’s key speakers. It’s not all that surprising that she would tell it like it is where it matters the most, underscoring what messaging Democratic candidates should use in the upcoming primaries and midterm election. What is surprising, however, is who was carrying the message.
While Donald Trump’s scandals have reached a fever pitch, right wing media has been desperately trying to rehash a scandal involving Hillary Clinton, even though the real scandal here at all is that John Durham at the end of his probe decided to jeopardize his own legal career in a last ditch effort to appease his bosses at the DOJ. That’s why Fox News thought it was a great idea to leak a clip of Clinton dropping the aforementioned words at the convention – one of those rare instances in which the network managed to tell the truth when they were hoping instead they could air the convention to find more dirt on a favorite right-wing target.
