I’m a big fan of theater. And one of my all-time favorite shows is Evita. Eva Peron was certainly a fascinating woman. And Andrew Lloyd Webber’s masterpiece, “Don’t cry for me Argentina,” is undoubtedly a magnificent song. Strong women are everywhere and always have been. Songs have been written about them, movies and plays have been made. They don’t need our tears. Their steely strength speaks for itself. Don’t cry for Liz Cheney either.

Cheney is someone I’d never vote for since I can’t think of one policy I agree with her on. However, her courage in bucking the insurrection party is worthy of our admiration, as are her contributions to the January 6 committee. Per the New York Times, Rock Springs, Wyoming, recently hosted a GOP fundraiser. The people who attended proceeded to engage in typical cult-like behavior.

For example, some posed for pictures with cardboard cutouts of assolini. There was also, per the Times, an auction featuring a Glock pistol. I’m sure the photos and the raffle will really help the American people greatly! But Liz Cheney wasn’t there.

Reportedly, Cheney has become persona non grata in Wyoming. Many Wyoming politicians can’t stand her because she dared to call for holding violent insurrectionists accountable. Accountability isn’t something the GOP likes.

And yet she’s raising a fortune. Her fundraising numbers are off the charts. And some Republicans, such as Mitt Romney, are bucking their party and aiding her in her reelection campaign.

And if she doesn’t win? This news would certainly not be welcome as if Cheney loses, it would no doubt be to a Trump-loving freak. But something tells me Cheney knows the odds. And something tells me she will be just fine.

So don’t cry for Liz Cheney either. She is made of tough stuff and is steely-eyed and determined. And she may just be one of the very few Republicans whose courage history will remember.
