I am the first to (repeatedly) say that if the media stopped giving Trump so much attention, he might go away. I am as tired of writing about him as you likely are reading about him. The problem, however, is that he is like a train wreck. You don’t want to watch, but you cannot help yourself. He continues to break the law and ignore norms and continues to get away with it. His latest escapade involves his taking presidential records to Mar-a-Lago. What is wrong with that man? The National Archives is not amused. They have asked the DOJ to investigate.

According to an earlier piece by Huffington Post, the Archives retrieved 15 boxes from Trump’s private residence. Those documents included Trump’s so-called “love letters” with Kim Jong Un. I guess he didn’t want anyone to see what was in those letters, among other things he did not want to see the light of day. Making this even worse, an unnamed source told Huff Post that this type of grab has never been seen before. Is anyone surprised?

In a statement to the Post, National Archives said that Trump had “brazenly ignored the law” by confiscating these documents, which included the letter President Barack Obama left for Trump. According to Washington Post, the DOJ is discussing whether Trump should be investigated for a crime. Well, duh. What do they think? Trump consistently thumbs his nose at the law and any other norms associated with the office of the presidency. He had no business being in it in the first place, and now that he is out, the DOJ needs to ensure that he adheres to all rules and laws surrounding the position. If not, they need to lock his ass up.

Unfortunately, that may never happen as the sources who spoke with WaPo said that the DOJ may be satisfied by reclaiming the materials. Knowing Trump, everything he took is probably not even in the boxes. They need to go and search his home to ensure that they have everything, especially since ABC News reported on the “gaps” in the White House call logs from January 6. Violating norms, Trump frequently used his personal cell or the phones of others to make calls. Again, knowing Trump, he was likely hiding things in those calls, using other phones to make those calls untraceable. Adam Kinzinger said earlier this week that Trump is the “worst president the United States of America ever had,” and he is not exaggerating.

All the turmoil Trump created while in office continues as long as he is walking around spreading lies. Kinzinger hit the proverbial nail on the head when he called Trump “a liar, a charlatan and the most fragile ego of anyone I’ve met.” All of that explains Trump’s behavior and why he thinks he is entitled to records that belong to the presidency. If they cannot lock him up for what he has done, surely, they can keep him from running for office again.
