The biggest attempted heist of all time

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

All through the years, there have been heists. There have been art heists — diamond heists — and now an attempted election heist. “Electorgate,” as I have dubbed it, is not going away anytime soon. And I will reiterate that I think this blossoming scandal has the power to ruin the GOP — and perhaps be one of the greatest scandals of all time.

And it appears the January 6 committee thinks so as well. I say this because they have issued subpoenas for 14 alleged members of the electorgate plot. These individuals are all Republicans (of course) and are from seven different states.

Here is what the committee had to say:

“The select committee is seeking information about attempts in multiple states to overturn the results of the 2020 election, including the planning and coordination of efforts to send false slates of electors to the National Archives.”

“We believe the individuals we have subpoenaed today have information about how these so-called alternate electors met and who was behind that scheme.”

How very interesting. And it would be even more interesting if all the testimony was live before an audience — the audience of the United States of America, most of whom I’ve no doubt are plenty curious about electorgate.

So now we will have some new folks in the hot seat. How silly these folks were if they thought such a scheme would work. Heists almost never do, and this was the worst attempted heist of all. It was the attempted heist of our democracy.

Every scheme tells a story, and this is one of greed and stupidity. No doubt the story will continue to unfold in real-time as the attempted thieves will now have to answer for their dirty deeds — while the whole world watches.
