Merrick Garland: how do you like me now?

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes and eleven other Oath Keepers leaders were just arrested and charged with seditious conspiracy in relation to the January 6th attack. So much for the DOJ doing “nothing.” It’s clear that the DOJ is aggressively working its way up toward the top people involved in January 6th, just as Attorney General Merrick Garland recently said it was.

This goes a long way to making clear that we can take Merrick Garland at his word. In fact, given how these things tend to work, Garland almost surely knew that these arrests were about to go down when he gave his speech last week.

Of course no one should be fully satisfied with the DOJ’s response to January 6th until it gets all the way to the top of the criminal conspiracy. But it’s now wiped out the Oath Keepers leadership, and once one or more of them flips, the next rung up the ladder is likely Roger Stone, who’s just one rung below Donald Trump himself. But you should be very pleased that Garland is proving to be a man of his word. He said the DOJ will take this all the way to the top, and now we know we can believe him.
