Kevin McCarthy’s time in the barrel

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

There may possibly be a little sit-down in Congress coming soon to a television screen near YOU!

I’m sure this get-together will be quite proper and civil, even quaint.

Perhaps coffee or tea will be served.

The invite has gone out, and it is up the the invitee to accept or decline.

The invitee is Kevin McCarthy. The host is Rep. Bennie Thompson, head of the January 6 committee.

McCarthy was speaking with KBAK TV, and the subject of the committee came up. Kevin said he does not really have “anything to add.”

He also said in regards to the committee, he wouldn’t “hide from anything.”

Faster than one could say, “be careful what you wish for,” Thompson responded — with a warm and hearty invite to Kevin.

Speaking to ABC News, Thompson said McCarthy should come on in.

“I’m not taking the invitation off the table,” said Thompson.

But that is not all. Thompson said he has not ruled out extending a formal request to McCarthy.

Well, isn’t that sweet? I am sure it will be a lovely-looking invitation. Perhaps it will even have a unique design on it. Who knows? Our side is certainly dignified when it comes to stuff like questioning politicians on what they know about Trump-fueled insurrections.

So, with those words Kevin spoke, he brought the focus squarely onto himself.

I wonder if he will choose to accept this lovely invite which might be televised for all we know.

Or will he politely decline and do what Kevin does best — cower in fear?
