This Supreme Court mess just keeps getting uglier

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The Supreme Court is America’s highest Court in the land. As such, one would think the Court would be filled with intelligent and empathetic Justices who take each case seriously and work hard to keep their own partisan leanings out of their decision-making. You’d think.

Sadly that is not the case anymore. We still have a few great Justices, but the highest Court in the land is now permeated with partisan quackery — which is why we need court reform so badly.

As we wait to see if the Supreme Court really does overturn Roe, yet another state is getting into the crazy mix. This is the state of Arizona. I feel for many Arizonians. It is a purple state, but it hasn’t always been this way, and so many decent people have been forced to put up with a great deal of quackery. And here is some more of that quackery.

Per The Hill, the attorney general in Arizona, a man by the name of Mark Brnovich, has asked the Court to allow a new abortion ban. This ban would be on women who wanted abortions due to the “genetic abnormalities” of the fetus.

Now some good news here. The first item of good news is that this law is currently blocked from taking effect after not one but two lower courts ruled against the AG. The second item of good news is that this request went to Justice Elena Kagan.

All Justices have states where they oversee any emergency matters that present themselves. And it just so happens Arizona is Justice Kagan’s responsibility.

So, I do not think this will get far, but that is not the point. My point is if someone like Justice Alito or Justice Gorsuch handled Arizona, I’d say it would be a given that the Court would take the case.

The Republican members of the Court are ITCHING to get rid of Roe, and it would seem the GOP will not stop bringing absurd cases to them. The sooner we can enact court reform, the better.
