Meet the alleged funder of the January 6th attack

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

People with money have everything they need. They do not need to worry about how they will eat, continue to live indoors, or how to acquire the right clothing to keep them warm in winter and cool in the summer. From the outside looking in, wealthy people have it all and have no need to complain. They are, of course, still human, and as the saying goes, “money can’t buy happiness.” That is apparently true when one who is overwhelmed with wealth makes it her business to assist in the attempt to overturn our democracy. Though many had heard about the Publix heiress who helped to finance the event that would eventually spark the January 6, 2021, insurrection, Washington Post shared a bit more about her involvement.

According to family who spoke with WaPo, Julie Fancelli, the daughter of Publix’s founder, became overly enamored of Alex Jones. Her brother-in-law Barney Barnett told WaPo that he could not buy into the conspiracy theories that hooked Fancelli . Barnett said: “I am not tantalized by that fellow, but apparently she is, and a lot of other people are addicted, to the detriment of the country.” Her own sister refuses to talk with Fancelli about anything other than family. Fancelli is lucky they have not disowned her as so many family members of Trump fanatics have done. It is not only irritating and annoying to have these people in the family, but it is detrimental to the wellbeing of the U.S. and our future. It is sad that one with so much money who could use it to help others instead chose this exercise in futility.

Fancelli practically financed the January 6 activities alone, giving $300,000 to Women for America First, $150,000 to the Republican Attorneys General Association, and $200,000 to State Tea Party Express, all of which were involved in the organization of the events that led to the insurrection. These people are delusional, and Fancelli was right in there with them. In fact, she had planned to attend the rally and had even reserved a room. Just think of all the good things she could have done with over a half million dollars. Instead, she wasted it on this nonsense. Yes, it was her money to waste, but this entire issue was ridiculous. Now, she is being investigated by the House Select Committee, where Bennie Thompson has always said they need to follow the money to get to the truth. In fact, WaPo reported that Thompson believes she “played a strong role” in financing the rally. That is an understatement.

Publix is rapidly distancing itself from Fancelli. It issued the following statement: “We are deeply troubled by Ms. Fancelli’s involvement in the events that led to the tragic attack on the Capitol on January 6.” If they could, they would probably remove her as a shareholder and wash their hands of her completely, but that will not happen unless someone can buy her out. In the meantime, Fancelli remains secluded, refusing to speak with the press. Her time to publicly speak may be coming sooner than she thinks.
