Key January 6th organizer agrees to cooperate with January 6th Committee

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

When the January 6th Committee got the Department of Justice to indict and arrest Steve Bannon for contempt of Congress, the aim wasn’t to convince Bannon to give in and testify; given his overall legal troubles, there’s no reason to expect he’ll do that. The aim was to make other subpoenaed witnesses realize that they’d have to cooperate unless they also wanted to end up indicted and arrested for contempt.

Sure enough, “Stop the Steal” organizer Ali Alexander has posted a video confirming that he’s decided to give cooperative testimony to the January 6th Committee in December, because in his words, “I don’t want to go to jail.”

Alexander has previously claimed that he worked with multiple House Republicans to plan January 6th. He’s thus far provided no evidence to support this claim. So it’s not clear precisely how much use he’ll end up being to the January 6th Committee. But the point is that he intends to at least try to give the committee what it’s looking for and point it in the right direction. In other words, the criminal referral, indictment, and arrest of Steve Bannon worked. The committee doesn’t need every witness to cave, just a few key witnesses who know what really happened. And now Ali Alexander is already caving.
