Let’s go Alvin!

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It’s been a mere formality for months, given the highly Democratic leanings of voters in Manhattan. But last night it finally became official: Democrat Alvin Bragg was elected as the next Manhattan District Attorney. This is a big deal – and it’s distinctly bad news for Donald Trump.

Current Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance has built a comprehensive criminal case surrounding Donald Trump’s finances, and he’s already brought criminal indictments against Allen Weisselberg and the Trump Organization. His grand jury has continued to hear from new witnesses since those indictments, which means that more indictments are coming – and the only people who rank higher than Weisselberg in the Trump Organization all have the last name “Trump.”

Back when Alvin Bragg won the Democratic primary race for Manhattan DA, Cy Vance brought that initial round of indictments about a week later – giving off the sense that he was waiting until after the election so the indictments wouldn’t be seen as politicized. Now that Bragg has won the general election for Manhattan DA, if Vance is sitting on indictments, we’re about to see them.

It’s widely believed that Cy Vance – who’s retiring – is looking to criminally indict Donald Trump on his way out the door, as a culmination of his career. Vance leaves office at the end of the year, so there’s strong reason to expect Trump will be indicted and arrested this year. Even if Vance decides to punt, based on Bragg’s existing stances, it seems a given that he’ll quickly greenlight the Trump indictment when he takes office at the beginning of the year.

Either way, Alvin Bragg will be the one who prosecutes Donald Trump and ends up putting him in prison for the kinds of straightforward and easily proven financial crimes that nearly always result in a guilty verdict, no matter who the defendant is.

Trump’s remaining supporters have settled on the incoherent and ineffective phrase “Let’s go Brandon” as a way of attacking Joe Biden and signaling their ongoing support for Trump. We can do far better. Since it’s Alvin Bragg who’s going to put Trump in prison, let’s get behind the phrase “Let’s go Alvin!”
