Nice try, Matt Gaetz!

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Recently, an indictment was unsealed, showing that a man had been arrested for threatening to kill Congressman Matt Gaetz. And this is as it should be. Threats of violence are vile and should never be made against anyone. But instead of being happy, this man was arrested, Gaetz is now accusing the Department of Justice of being “biased against Republicans.”

Gaetz also is pontificating that threats of violence should never go unpunished. This is one of the stories that best highlights the hypocrisy of the GOP because Gaetz has not said one word about all the threats going on right now against democrats.
Mothers and educators, and school board members are receiving chilling and violent messages:

“We’re coming for you.”

“We know who you are.”

Some of these individuals have been doxed; their personal information put about for all the world to see. MAGA has shown up at the homes of many of these people. Police are constantly being called. Attorney-General Garland has had to step in after receiving a pleading letter from some of the targeted individuals asking for help.

These attacks have been labeled by many as a form of domestic terrorism. But allow yourself, if you will, to view the hypocrisy because Republicans are squawking with indignation that Garland dare and try to HELP the threatened. The ones making the threats, these Republicans insist, are the real victims.

Welcome to 1984, playing out in real-time right before your disbelieving eyes. “Just do what we say, and we’ll stop terrorizing you,” the message from the GOP seems to be. It is tyrannical. It is the stuff of nightmares.

Luckily, AG Garland has refused the threateners’ request that he — to put it succinctly — bug off. Garland has mobilized the FBI to work with Police in the area to stop the terrorizing.

So, Gaetz can pout all he wants, but there is no “there” there. The message seems clear to me. You threaten — you face the consequences. Sadly, it appears for the GOP they see Justice as only one side facing said consequences.
