Bad news for Kyrsten Sinema

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Kyrsten Sinema is having a bad week. Actually, the Arizona Senator has had a lousy MONTH. History will likely not be kind to Senator Sinema if she continues as she is. Her enigmatic behavior has baffled many, and her poll numbers are horrific.

This week, five members of her veteran’s council resigned. The reason they left is that they have lost faith in Senator Sinema. So, besides plunging poll numbers, now the Senator has to deal with disgusted staff members walking out. It is a terrible look for Sinema, and the way things are going, it is only going to get worse for her.

And now there is more bad news for Sinema. Rep. Rubin Gallego has not ruled out challenging Sinema in 2024. To be clear, Rep. Gallego did not say he would. But he also did not say he wouldn’t. I interpret that, in political speak, to mean nothing’s off the table.

Gallego is well-regarded and is for ending the filibuster. He is an excellent speaker and is well-known. If he chooses to challenge Sinema, he’d likely win. Many have said Sinema will not care because all she wants is a cushy lobbying job. I respectfully disagree.

There are very few senators who are not interested in a second term. It does happen, but it’s rare. I also imagine Sinema will not want to leave office with a reputation so deeply tarnished. But we will see. Something has to give, and the Arizona Senator must surely know this.
