No wonder Donald Trump’s handlers have been trying to keep him off the stage
The average American already thinks it’s a joke, and the polling numbers increasingly make clear that it’s not within a million miles of happening, but the media still frequently tries to get us to stay tuned in by insisting that Donald Trump is somehow magically going to make a 2024 comeback.
If you’ve watched any of Trump’s very rare public appearances in 2021, you’re aware that he comes off as more mentally incompetent and outright senile with each new appearance. We got yet another reminder of this when the Washington Post reported that Trump recently spoke to a group of Republican donors and couldn’t stop ranting about how he’s not into Russian prostitutes and – his words – “golden showers.”
It’s clear why Trump’s remaining handlers don’t want him going out there and speaking. When he makes headlines like this, it makes it even more clear to the average American that this guy is a goner, past tense, washed up, senile, and obviously not realistically part of the 2024 conversation. This forces the media to back down from its “Trump 2024 magic comeback” stories, which in turn makes it harder for Trump and his babysitters to line their pockets in 2021 by pretending that he’s going to be a candidate in 2024.
So by all means, if Donald Trump wants to keep running his mouth like this, let him. A lot of what he says is dangerous when he’s talking about insurrectionists and violence – which is why it’s a good thing that he’s banned from social media. But when he’s out there re-litigating his own past scandals, he’s only damaging himself. The sooner the media is forced to move on from the “Trump 2024 magic comeback” fantasy, the sooner the media will begin facing on the Republican monsters who are an actual threat in 2024.
