The real reason the media is afraid to finish off Ron DeSantis
Ron DeSantis is doing everything he can to make sure as many Floridians have COVID as possible, so he can steer them toward Regeneron, for which he obviously has a personal financial motive. It would be nice if the media would actually do its job and call this out for what it is.
Major news outlets have the resources to dive in and figure out precisely what’s going on here. To its credit, a month ago the AP revealed that one of DeSantis’ top political donors is also an investor in Regeneron. But other major news outlets have done very little with this since.
Given how many people are needlessly dying in Florida as a result of Ron DeSantis’ anti-mask, anti-vaccine shenanigans, and how he just happens to be loudly hawking a drug that is only profitable if a bunch of people keep catching COVID, you’d think this would be a juicy lead for the media. You’d think they’d want to get to the bottom of it.
But then again, if the media punches out Ron DeSantis with a major criminal scandal now, he won’t be around to run for President in 2024 – and the media desperately wants him to run for President in 2024. They know he’s highly unlikely to win, but they expect that his divisive and disastrous 2024 campaign would make for great ratings before it implodes.
If the media really is refusing to dig to the bottom of this Regeneron scandal for fear it might finish off Ron DeSantis too early before he can turn into true ratings gold, then the media should be ashamed of itself. People are dying because of whatever DeSantis’ specific motivation is for making sure as many Floridians keep catching COVID as possible. Doesn’t the media owe the American public the truth?
