Georgia criminal case against Donald Trump gains steam – and it’s time for Rudy Giuliani to panic

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Early in 2021, Fulton County Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis publicly confirmed that she had empaneled an initial grand jury to begin a criminal probe into Donald Trump and his associates for attempting to tamper with the 2020 election results. Since then, as things tend to go during criminal investigations during their middle stretch, few to no details have publicly surfaced – until now.

Details about the probe are now being leaked to the Daily Beast. The fact that anything is leaking to the media is a sign that a probe is gaining steam and may be ready to shift gears. But in this instance the leaks are actually pretty specific, and it turns out the investigation is mostly “done.”

Once the investigation phase of a criminal probe is done, that’s when prosecutors generally empanel a new grand jury for the purpose of presenting the findings and bringing indictments. So that’ll be what to watch for next.

Notably, the leaks to the Daily Beast reveal that the probe is focusing heavily on not just Donald Trump, but also Lindsey Graham and Rudy Giuliani. The article also raises the possibility of indicting Giuliani first because the case against him is stronger. We take this as a sign that the DA could target Giuliani in an effort to get him to flip on Trump and the others.
