Good news in the California Governor recall race
As recently as last week, the polling averages in the California recall race suggested there was a 50-50 chance that Governor Gavin Newsom could be recalled and replaced with right wing extremist lunatic Larry Elder. How was this even possible? Almost no one votes in a recall election because they don’t even know it’s going on, and the tiny turnout can produce absurd results like a Republican winning statewide in a deeply Democratic state.
If California were suddenly saddled with a lunatic Republican Governor, the state would fall apart. It would become a complete nightmare for everyone living there, and it would embolden right wing extremists around the nation to try similar stunts in other blue states. It’s why Palmer Report and others have spent the past week urging everyone to take the recall race very seriously, and to get involved however possible.
Now there’s good news. In what can be seen as a direct result of the increased attention that the recall race has received, the polling averages now have Gavin Newsom winning by about 8.6 points and remaining in office. It proves that volunteering, donating, and getting the word out to voters can make a sharp difference – particularly in a race like this one, in which the Republicans are counting on low turnout.
Of course there are still eleven days to go, and in a wacky race like this one, the polls can’t necessarily be trusted to be accurate. Given everything that’s on the line, let’s assume the polls are wrong, and keep working our butts off to win this thing in these final days. If we win big, it’ll send a signal to right wingers in other blue states not to even bother trying. And we can’t afford any chance of losing. You can donate to Newsom here. You can volunteer for Newsom here, no matter what state you live in. Let’s go win this.
