Rudy Giuliani is falling to pieces

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Rudy Giuliani is facing disbarment in New York, which will end his career as a lawyer. The court took the unusual step of suspending his law license while the case is still pending. The “all hope is lost” trolls immediately noted that he could get his license back, but the fact is that if the courts hadn’t taken this action now, he would be free to continue impersonating a lawyer until his case is eventually decided.

The ruling lays out Giuliani’s malfeasance in gory detail. Lawyers are not to make knowingly false legal assertions, either in a courtroom or in the public square. The preliminary ruling details dozens of violations of this basic principle.

Not only did Rudy fail to make his client’s election fraud case, he also failed to make his own defense. With his law license hanging in the balance, Rudy failed to turn over any of the “hundreds of pages of affidavits” that he claims to have in his possession. Instead, he expected the courts to engage in paranoid Qanon-style speculation to accept as fact a series of unsubstantiated and self-contradictory claims.

He referred to “affidavits” and “confidential informants” that he never introduced into the court record. He cited speculative blogs that themselves did not cite any backing evidence. And he continued to lie to the public even after he had told the courts that he had, and would continue to “exercise personal discipline.” Yes, he really said this! In court!

The irony is that this ruling lays the foundation for the twice-impeached loser of the last presidential election to sue Giuliani for legal malpractice and fraud. If Rudy doesn’t understand at this point why he shouldn’t be practicing law then it is yet another reason why he shouldn’t be practicing law. Maybe his last client can enlighten him.
