This is just embarrassing for Donald Trump

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Imagine for a moment how quickly Fox News or OAN or Newsmax would symbolically eviscerate Joe Biden or Chuck Schumer or Nancy Pelosi if they went around bragging about how smart they were, or how they were the best (President, Senate Majority Leader, Speaker of the House) in history. Now imagine if they threw a party about it. Now imagine if they threw that party on the Fourth of July.

Welcome to 45-Fest. Yes, you read that right: 45-Fest. It is a “celebration” to be held on Independence Day at the Sarasota County Fairgrounds, billed as a chance to “celebrate the accomplishments of his [guess who’s] administration.” It’s Woodstock for weirdos. Monterey for morons. Coachella for cockroaches. Without great music or the slightest vestige of any sense of humour.

The event will be co-sponsored by the Republican Party of Florida, which is chaired by state Senator Joe Gruters of Sarasota. Gruters was one of the original Florida supporters of Former Guy back in the days before it was fashionable. And by “fashionable” I mean in the sense that he is like a Hitler supporter who began his idolatry in the 1920s as opposed to the 1930s.

As someone whose life has been scarred by two malignant narcissists, I find such idolaters particularly putrid. I’m reminded of the fanboy gullibility of the worshippers of truly evil people. Such people are a kind of evil in and of themselves, co-dependents of the worst among us who derive some bizarre satisfaction from cozying up to monsters.

And before you insist that such people are rare, think about how many people attend send-off lunches for monsters who quit (or are fired or are forced into an early retirement) at large companies. Certain kinds of people love evil people. Sometimes they love evil people enough to fill a large venue on the Fourth of July.

So the Braggart needs a party like a spider needs a fly. Not satisfied with defiling the sacred People’s House, unwilling to stop at merely outraging the Constitution, left incomplete after inspiring a murderous insurrection in the consecrated halls of our nation’s Capitol Building, the Braggart’s famished ego needs worshipful adulation on America’s most hallowed day.

I shake my head in disbelief. Where do so many self-loathing fools who willingly give up their holidays for such monsters come from? I don’t know. But while it may be my duty to report on it, it is my distinct pleasure to relate that not once in the course of this little article did I mention his name. And, as ever, ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters, comrades and friends, stay safe.
