The real reason Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are “distancing” themselves from Donald Trump

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The question is not whether to believe Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner’s claim that they’ve distanced themselves from Trump. That part is irrelevant. The real story is that they’re trying make us believe they’ve distanced themselves. Given the timing, it’s about Trump Organization indictments.

Donald Trump is a lock for indictment in New York. So are top Trump Organization officials like Weisselberg and Calamari. The variable in all this has been whether New York will indict Trump’s family members or ignore them as irrelevant.

But now that we have media confirmation that the first round of indictments is coming fairly soon, suddenly Ivanka and Jared are trying to convince everyone that they’re as fed up with Donald Trump’s antics as the rest of us are. Nice try. But the timing is highly revealing.

Either they’re leaking this in the hope it’ll cause prosecutors to decide to leave them alone entirely (nice try), or they’re signaling to prosecutors that if they are on track to be indicted, they’re open to flipping on Donald Trump instead.

Take your pick which one you think it is. But the timing gives away that it has to be something along those lines. And for that reason, this leak is indeed very important. If you focus on whether they’ve really distanced themselves or they’re lying, you’ve missed the point.
