Last night we all learned that the Trump DOJ subpoenaed, and obtained from Apple, the personal data of multiple House Democrats and their family members. This instantly made it one of the biggest criminal scandals in the history of U.S. politics. Now it turns out it’s even bigger.

CNN is reporting this evening that the Trump DOJ subpoenaed Apple for the personal data related to a total of 73 phone numbers and 36 email addresses that belonged to members of Congress, their staffers, and their families. So this is clearly a lot broader than just going after two House Democrats and one of their kids.

CNN says that the Trump DOJ also subpoenaed Microsoft for the contents of a congressional staffer’s personal email account in 2017. This means that it goes beyond just one tech company. If the Trump DOJ went after Apple and Microsoft, how many other tech companies were also targeted? Google? Android vendors? Yahoo? It’ll all surely start coming out soon. This is going to get ugly.
