Texas is a great state. Having lived there very briefly and having close friends there, I can say wholeheartedly that it offers much. However, Texas has a bit of a problem right now. And that problem is the fact that it has an ignoramus for a Governor.

Texas is one of those states on its way to turning purple. It almost did when Beto O’Rourke ran against Senator Ted Cruz and came pretty close to winning.

So as the midterms draw ever closer, the Democrats have their eye on the Governor’s race.
Like with the great state of Florida, Texas is winnable with, of course, the right candidate. There have been rumors that actor Matt McConaughey would throw his hat in the ring, but it has not happened yet.

And now, there is reporting from many outlets that Beto O’Rourke is seriously considering making a run for Texas Governor.

This is a big deal for a few reasons. One is that O’Rourke is well known. He’d start the race with a considerable advantage in fundraising. He’s dynamic at fundraising, and he’d hold an edge over other possible contenders. Then there is the man himself. Like Val Demings of Florida, Beto is a star. He has that elusive “it factor,” and he cares deeply for and loves his state. He’d make a wonderful Governor.

And the Democrats want him to run. Many are already starting to come out for him. This is a big deal. I don’t know for sure that he will run, but it seems a strong possibility. If he does decide to launch a campaign, we need to do everything we can to help him. O’Roarke stands a great chance of winning but not without our help.

The 2022 midterms are going to be a very exciting time. And with the possible addition of O’Rourke, this Texas race has become even more interesting.
