Florida Democrats come out swinging as Val Demings prepares to run against Marco Rubio
Multiple major news outlets are confirming today what Palmer Report has been hearing for months: nationally popular Democratic Congresswoman Val Demings is preparing to run against Marco Rubio in the 2022 race for U.S. Senate in Florida.
Demings, the former Orlando Police Chief, is one of the few Democrats who can knock Rubio off. Rubio is a bumbling idiot who keeps embarrassing himself, but he’s inexplicably popular with Republican voters. So this is great news in terms of putting that Florida Senate seat in play, and increasing the Democrats’ odds of retaining or expanding their control of the Senate in the midterms.
In addition, Florida’s Commission of Agriculture and Consumer Services Nikki Fried – the highest ranking Democrat elected statewide in Florida – appears to be gearing up to announce she’s running for Governor against Ron DeSantis in 2022. DeSantis only won by 0.4 points in 2018 and is now scandal-plagued and a national pariah. Fried would have a strong chance of winning this race. Democratic Congressman Charlie Crist is also running against DeSantis.
We don’t like to get involved in races that aren’t realistically winnable. But these two Florida races are both highly winnable, whether the media pundits are currently admitting it or not. Palmer Report is all-in to help flip Florida for the Democrats in 2022. Who’s with us?
